Emails I recieved ... insanity decoded

From time to time I get email from friends where there is a rise to action aganist an injustice. Someone has found a social ill or someone is mistreated and seeking a call to arms to correct it. Some of the emails I get are to the point and point out relevant issues. Others are just somone overreacting and trying to cause a hysteria and have no basis for nothing. If the sender would just sit and see the truth, the issue presented is not much and not worth the "send this to everyone you know" tagline at the end of the message. This is one such email.

A friend forwarded me an email from another friend concerning Jaime Foxx's special on Wednesday. Right off the back I could smell the "kill all the white people and make them suffer for this" in the writing. Later that night, I recieved the same email from another source, one I would prefer not to hear from. This made me think and try to see the real truth in it.

Please take the time to forward the below message to everyone in your address book. NBC is not doing any marketing & publicity on Jamie's Music Special on NBC because he stood his ground and wouldn't have any white guest as they requested. To make it even worse he had two controversial guest stars, that do not fit the "NBC profile" on his show. Tune in to find out who they are. They are purposely putting his show up against the second week of American Idol in hopes that it will fail. This will give them the excuse to never give another black person a music special because "it doesn't work". Let's show them that it does work, and that we support each other. Tivo Idol, and watch Jamie. I saw the taping, it is a good show.

J Foxx making history on NBC. This is the first time NBC has ever aired an entire young urban African American cast on a music special. We need to show support. This was not an easy sell for Jamie and he stood his ground to make it happen the way he saw fit.

To make it even worse he had two controversial guest stars (Stevie Wonder, Mary J.Blige, Snoop Dogg), that do not fit the "NBC profile" on his show (not being gay and highly flamboyant … who does fit the NBC image). Tune in to find out who they are (do you think they might have edited them out?). They are purposely putting his show up against the second week of American Idol in hopes that it will fail (what night would be good?... any show might fail in this time slot. With Jamie Foxx’s appeal and star power, he might fare better than most. Also note, this special is up against George Lopez …) . We need to show support (try supporting them all … maybe then “they” will see “us” as a viable audience and promote more shows for us). This was not an easy sell for Jamie (an Oscar winner who can sing and act … oh must have been a hard pitch) and he stood his ground to make it happen the way he saw fit (an artist with integrity …who would have guess).

To the original wirter of this email (you name was lost in the million forwards sent) you sound a little shaddy. If you were at the taping, who were the special guests that were so contrversial??? I think you are just a wanna-militant without any causes and looking for any little thing to make yourself seem important. Chase another windmill, Don Quixote, and try again ...
